Two weddings, same day, one beach...

We had two weddings planned for Lindquist Beach one day this summer...one was in the morning and one was at sunset, both had the same photographer. Megan Biggs sent me photos of each wedding to show the contrast of a morning vs. evening wedding. Pretty cool - thanks Megan!

Some beautiful lantern details...

Lanterns are definitely a hot thing this year. Island Bliss has been stock piling different options! They look great as aisle decor, centerpieces, accent lighting, etc. Here are some pictures of options and set ups we have done so far this year:

As you can imagine, it is easy to mix lanterns with ceremony & reception decor and it can be quiet easy to reuse the lanterns on the aisle for centerpieces for dinner. And you know the rule on St. John beaches about no glass? The white lanterns above (under accent decor) have no glass so they are perfect "St. John Beach Wedding Rules Safe"!

DIY decorative jute balls

I had a bride recently that booked me for consultation only (did you know that was possible? If you don't need an onsite wedding planner for the ceremony & reception, we offer a discounted coordination fee!). This girl amazed me with all her DIY projects. She even left some items behind for me and I absolutely love these jute balls she made and am shocked that she made them! I asked my husband "aren't these amazing?!" and he says, "that's actually pretty easy to do". Well whatever! I know I couldn't do them and make them look this good!

I used two of them the other day to add a little "ump" to our aisle. They looked awesome with the palms and white shells:

My bride shared the link where she found the DIY instructions and you can find it here.

Get a picture of that ship!

Sage from Crown Images posted these photos of our wedding last week on her Facebook page. I love when a bride has a photographer either meet them at the ship or go back with them at the end of the day for a photo in front of the ship. The ship is after all a part of your wedding day! Naomi and James...congrats on a gorgeous wedding day!

The Oasis of the Seas is such a beautiful ship! The ceremony on Lindquist Beach was just as striking, thanks in part to Naomi's great sense of style!

Something new...

I don't know about you, but I've been doing wedding for years now and I'm starting to get a little tired of our ol' conch shell & palm leaf aisles. I like fresh and I like modern and I'm on a hunt for new ideas. I've been toying around with the idea of driftwood and I came across this idea online today:

I'm not 100% into the pillars - they look like they could easily fall over with a good breeze. I did some shopping today as well and was able to purchase many of the elements above...the driftwood (although I couldn't find any that dark) and the moss balls...I have some new white starfish that I'm dying to try out as well. I'll update you again when all the elements come together - can't wait to see what I can create!

PS I love it when brides send me the pictures that inspire them...I'm always looking for new ideas.

Something new...

I'm always looking for new ideas on how to do anything better for a wedding - I love change and evolvment, I don't want to offer the same thing everyone else does, or even just offer the same thing over and over again. A few months ago, a bride came up with this idea and I just loved it. I'm very excited now to be able to offer these lush orchid aisles...
