New Tradition?

I feel like I should start doing a weekly Friday night post for my brides that are doing the same thing as me on Friday nights...trolling the internet for fun wedding ideas! I got this video from Simply Bridal this week and thought I would share...then you can click on hundreds of more YouTube videos and stay entertained for hours! =)

Cute Burlap Up-cycling Idea

I can't take credit for this idea - one of the servers at a recent wedding suggested it to me and I thought it was adorable. She noticed that my bride & groom had a burlap aisle runner (they work soooo much better in the sand than other runners) and asked me what they were going to do with the runner after the wedding (not knowing it was rented). She suggested cutting it up and using it as the matting in a picture frame and they could put their wedding photo on top of it.

Since most brides rent a runner instead of  buying it, it's probably not all the feasible. But a lot of brides have been requesting burlap on their bouquet stems, or they bring their own burlap table runners, etc. With left over burlap, look at the cool things you could make (or buy!):

Of course, custom monogrammed runners are always popular and this trend has moved into the burlap market. You could always frame the monogrammed piece of your runner after the wedding day. This is so pretty, by PinkTulipOfDaphne:

And since I'm on Etsy already, did you see the blue mason jar I posted yesterday on Facebook? My heart swooned. My wallet was like, "yeah, right!".

Ocean Palm Villa, St. John

This was my first event at Ocean Palm Villa on St. John, way past Coral Bay. It's in a remote little location but you never even need to leave - it has it's own beach, pool and five star accommodations! This place is ah-mazing.

Jessica put a lot of work into DIY projects and we were there to make sure it all came together. One of my favorites was the photo booth.

I took this photo of the bride walking down the stairs to meet her brother would be escorting her down the aisle. I love happy accident shots like this.

The ceremony - the 2nd picture was taken from inside the house so the color is a little muted but I wanted to show the amazing view.

This was a fun group - the bridal party Gangham Styled down the aisle and during the reception, we staged the Harlem Shake! They went ALL OUT with the costumes, loved it!!

My youngest daughter is a huge fan of penguins - she loved the photo above! I may need to get one of these costumes for her birthday party this summer - I think my husband would look cute in it!

A smile at the end of the week.

Scott and Ashley were married at sunset on Trunk Bay. My husband told me, "you have to blog about them, they are just the CUTEST couple. They completely put a smile on my face after a long week."

The cutest thing? Scott and Ashley's first date was swinging on her grandmothers front porch. How cute!? And their photos captured by Sage Crown Parker at Crown Images are just lovely - thanks Sage!

Well isn't that interesting...!

Ball must have found out how popular their vintage blue mason jars have become. They are releasing a limited edition version for their 100th anniversary!

Of course I had to order a set from Amazon.com to compare them to the real deal!

St. Thomas Photo Booth!

It can sometimes take a little while for wedding trends to make their way to the islands but I'm so glad this one finally did! This a new company on St. Thomas that I am so excited about - St. Thomas Photo Booth!

They did a wedding with us last November, here are some photos I took with my camera. They have this awesome little booth that guests can go inside - before going inside, they pick out the props they want to take with them (the props are included but you're always welcome to bring your own too).

On one side of the booth is the camera.

And the other side is a little bench for guests to sit on.

And you end up with some pretty awesome images from your friends and family!

Go to their Facebook page right now! Share their site, like their page, get friends to like it too and guess what?! You could win this completely awesome St. Thomas map necklace!

Congrats to Emily & Michael!

These beautiful images were captured by Blue Glass Photography. Emily & Michael hired them for two hours to capture their ceremony on Hawksnest Beach and then a few other locations, including the Trunk Bay overlook and Maho Bay Beach. I just love the palm trees at Maho Bay!

Lucky Charms for St. Patty's Day!

Don’t shoo the spider off your wedding dress, did you know that the English believe that a spider found on a wedding dress actually means good luck? To the brides that make their way over to Ireland, make sure when leaving the church that you dodge the old shoe being thrown at your head (matrix style)! In honor of St. Patrick’s Day SimplyBridal would like to share 8 lucky wedding traditions for brides and grooms.

Villa Serendipity Wedding

Yesterday was such a beautiful wedding - I just downloaded the images and am going to blog them here - I think that's the fastest I have ever blogged a wedding!

First we had the ceremony at Lime Tree Beach with beautiful mason jars and a full rose petals aisle.

This bride chose an amazing bouquet - be warned - she paid a lot more for it - but it was GORGEOUS.

With of course, our signature seahorse!

The reception was then held at Villa Serendipity - all events on St. Thomas. Heavy appetizers were provided by Passion Fruit Chefs, music by DJ Snow and photography by Elisha Orin (all photos here were taken by me though).

I love their favors - these CD covers were adorable.

Wedding cakes by Island Sweet Stuff:

We brought these twine wrapped vases for the bridal party to put their flowers in and reused the mason jars from the ceremony to add more flowers to the reception.

You cannot beat this view!

These centerpieces turned out awesome - the twigs created an even large effect.

Congrats Katie & Brooks!

Wedding Invitations

Occasionally I will have brides send me an invitation - sometimes it is so I can get a feel for their colors and overall feel of the wedding. I love stationary, especially pretty stationary! I've kept a few of my favorites in a corner of my desk with the plans to blog them. After totally clearing out my office this weekend, I finally snapped some pictures. Here are some really outstanding wedding invitations from my clients:

The flower on this was embossed (slightly raised). I love the combo of the orange and blue. These colors can be tricky - you can make them look like Florida Gator or Miami Dolphin colors unintentionally - but here it works perfectly.

I'm a huge fan of grey and yellow.

This invite was a lot of fun! It arrived in a padded envelope:

With a box and seashell inside (disclaimer: this originally came with a Sand Dollar, not a shell, as they are getting married at Sand Dollar Estates - but my sand dollar broke):

This actually when with the orange invite above - this is their save the date post card!

A lot of brides ask me about the wording on their invites - I thought this might help:

And like the grey and yellow invites above, this is another "ticket invite" - made to look like boarding passes.

Three "tickets" were inside with RSVP, event information and formal invite.

I had the hardest time picking out my wedding invitations and didn't love what I ended up with. Its important to pick out something that reflects your wedding style and colors. And important to have something you love!
