Jack's Bight

One of my husbands and I favorite restauant in St. Thomas was Jack's Wings in Tillet Gardens. Before we had kids, we went there at least twice a week to sit at the bar and enjoy everyone's company. Post kids, we would let the little ones run around the garden and enjoy the fun island setting of Tillet. It was never really a place that I recommended for weddings. It was in the middle of the island (no ocean views) and a very local hangout. It was rare to see tourists there. I was really sad to find out that Jack's Wings was closing...but very excited to learn that they weren't really closing, just moving locations. And the new location?? Amazing. Forget about being inland, how much closer to the water can you get then THIS:



Yes, those are stairs leading right into the water! They are hoping to offer dingy service to the bar! How cool would it be to be picked up by dingy from your hotel and brought to the restaurant??





This is the old Fungi's location at Point Pleasant Resort - they did a wonderful job repainting the interior.




There is also some great outdoor space for semi-private events.





I think this is just the perfect location for welcome parties and casual receptions. There is even a beach within walking distance...

Happy Anniversary Baby!

Five blissful years of happiness with my wonderful husband! We were married 5 years ago, on May 28th, 2005. Pictures by Paradise Pictures, ceremony & reception at Oceana. I can't believe we are already at five years! Two beautiful kids later, a wonderful wedding business, life just couldn't be better!

I had just gotten into the wedding planner business when our wedding unfolded and going back to look through the pictures, I had to cringe here and there! I can't even begin to tell you how many countless weddings I have been to in the last five years and how many AMAZING things I have seen brides do. Looking at my photos, I realize just how much of an amateur I was!! I see soooooooo many things that I would have done differently or wish I had put more thought in to. But in the end, none of that matters. What matters most is the marriage, the person you look in the eye and say, "I do" to. I couldn't ask for a more supportive partner in life. I'm more amazed at how much he can love me, even after all these years! Thank you love, for being my best friend and number one fan (you are a fan of mine on Facebook, no??). =)
I love and can't wait for the next five, and the five after that and the five after that and....

I was just looking through the wedding photos from the wedding I posted about yesterday. It reminded me how popular the color orange has been lately. It really does POP against the blues & whites of the beach.

Meaningful touches...

The most special thing about your wedding day is what you do to make it your own - not what Martha Stewart tells you what to do, but those special touches that are unique to the two of you. These are always my favorite elements of someone's wedding and so I like to share them with you guys when I see them.

Allen and Alissa were married last weekend at Sand Dollar Estates (the same villa that President Clinton stays in when he visits!) and I have a ton of pictures to share from their day, but for now, I want to share the cake topper that Alissa suprised Allen with. Allen's hobby is flying and he flew Alissa to Put-In Bay, Ohio for their first date! I'm sorry, but if I guy flew me anywhere for a first date, I think he would have had me at "this is your Captain speaking..."

It's this beautiful? Made from glass, I think it looked like a miniature ice sculpture on his cake!

Holiday Season, it's the Holiday Season!

I hope everyone is enjoying this time of year, although if you are in the far north, I'll never understand people that enjoy snow! I'm always asked what brought me to the islands and my honest answer is, "the weather!". I really enjoy Christmas mornings in shorts, I'll tell you that. My parents are always quick to remind me just how pretty the snow is...and I agree...I love to watch it fall...on the TV. =)

We put up our Christmas tree last weekend and there are two ornaments that I really wanted to share with my brides. I'm constantly asked about local gifts - what would be something locally made that would be a nice favor for wedding guests? I know this won't work for everyone, but I love the idea of a locally made Christmas ornament.

This, being a seahorse and all, is definitely my favorite and made at a local clay art studio. They are signed on the back with St. Thomas, USVI and I'm sure the artist would be happy to personalize.
