February Recap!

I take so many pictures at weddings during the month with plans to blog certain things or use as a Facebook photo and I often never get around to it or simply forget that I have the photo. I'm diligent about filing my photos in folders each month and since I have this wonderful photo database, I decided to try something new: a monthly post featuring things from that months weddings! So either the last couple days or the first few days of each month, I will make a blog post of my favorite photos from the previous months weddings & events. I'm pretty excited about this new plan and getting to share items that may have previously just sat in my folders!

Congrats to Jenna & Chadd!

As per my previous post, I will be posting one of my favorite elements from each wedding this month, as it is my favorite month of the year! Jenna & Chadd were married on Oct 1st on Magen's Bay after arriving on the Carnival Victory. Jenna had a lot of wonderful touches that she mailed down in advance. Once of my favorite was the starfish chair ties:

Ok...so some weddings may have more than just one favorite element. =)

Combining everything I love...an Etsy Beach Wedding!

I am a fan of MODWedding on Facebook which means I get daily updates in my news feed containing some pretty cool ideas for weddings. It's not "destination wedding" oriented though so while some of the ideas are very cool, they don't really translate well for our weddings here. That changed yesterday though when they updated their Facebook page with a link to their blog article:

Now...looking through the photos without reading the text, I was wondering, "is this a fake wedding? I don't see any guests?" and upon reading more, it was indeed a fake weddings, just set up to show some really cool ideas for beach weddings. The whole thing was absolutely gorgeous though. I LOVE the surfboards used as an altar area...the vintage feel of the table settings, so very lush and full. But my favorite thing of all? The bride (kind of what I imagine Jennifer Anniston to look like at her next wedding). Loved her hair, her dress and OMG...her necklace!!! I was hooked! I don't think I can pull off a chunky necklace like this, but I'd sure like to try, or at the very least, have it sit beautifully in my jewelry box. I thought, I bet I could find something similar on Etsy...and wouldn't you know, they credited the necklace's creator at the end of the article and lo & behold, she sells on Etsy!

A Bliss Baby!!

And NO, it's not MY baby! =)



Eric & Jenny were married in St. Thomas on Magen's Bay this past May. They were a great team to work with - very laid back and very much in love. You could feel the excitement in the air on their wedding day, their friends & family had such good vibes surrounding them. Greer Rivera took some amazing photos of them and of their reception at Villa Botanica.

Eric & Jenny emailed me this past week to share some wonderful news - they're expecting a baby girl in February - just nine short months from the day they said I Do! Had it been a little boy, they were considering the name Thomas for a boy after the island they married on. They have a gorgeous baby girl name picked out - which is not Janelle - my suggestion. =)

Congratulations Eric & Jenny! I can't wait to see photos of your little Bliss Baby!

More fun with rum!

As promised...

Cruzan Rum is locally made here in the Virgin Islands, which makes it a perfect "local favor". It comes in many different flavors (my favorite is the coconut flavor - mix it with Coke and it tastes like a suntan!).

Jenny & Eric were married last night on Magen's Bay



They then moved to Villa Botanica for their reception



It's one of my all time favorite venues!

But you're here to read about fun with rum...so let me get to that point. Jenny & Eric brought with them three different types of shot glasses as favors for their guests. A shot glass was placed at each table setting, along with a miniature bottle of Cruzan Rum with the guests name attached - a favor AND a placecard, you know how much I love that!





Their colors were bright pink, orange and green. All the shot glasses were green, and the table clothes were a mix of orange and pink. I just love this shot here...nothing better than "Grandma" on top of a bottle of rum!

Wedding Gifts

Did you and your husband/wife exchange gifts to each other on your wedding day? Do you plan to if you are engaged? There are two schools of people in this category - those that do and those that don't. Those that don't either don't know that this is something that they can do, or they know about it, but figure the honeymoon is their gift to each other, or saving the money for something else. Those that do, they're probably a lot like me and will look for any excuse to give each other a nice gift (or get a nice gift!).

I begged my husband over and over to tell me what he wanted as a wedding gift when we got married in May '05. He is in the school of thought that wedding presents aren't necessary. I was not. So I was very specific in what I wanted for myself! I reminded very subtly about 10 times a day that I thought this would be a perfect gift:



I stole this picture from an eBay seller - it's a horrible picture of a very beautiful Roberto Coin palm tree pendant. He knew if we were to start our married lives as happily ever after, he'd better have it! =) And he did, I was "so surprised" to get in on our wedding day. =) These are sold at Jewels here in St. Thomas and St. John - what a perfect thing for your groom to pick up while he is here, no need to hide it in the luggage! And if you are married between the infamous palm trees on Magen's Bay? Even more fitting!
