I'm not Dilly Dally!

I've been screaming this in my head all day - I've been meaning to get a photo of the prize up on the blog all week but we are knee deep in wedding season right now. It has been so busy. There is a voice in the back of my head that keeps reminding me to do this but I just haven't found time...whenever my daughter (who turns 3 in August yet I'm not comfortable calling her a three year old yet!) is taking her sweet time doing something, we always tell her not to dilly dally - she gets so frustrated when she hears this and says, "I'm NOT Dilly Dally! I'm MARLEY!" Cracks us up everytime. So yes, while that voice in my head keeps reminding me to hurry up and get this posted, there is another voice in my head screaming back, "I'm not Dilly Dally!"

That was a lot to explain why this wasn't up sooner, huh? =)

Bill, I hope you and your fiance enjoy a box of locally made Caribbean Rum Balls. These make great additions to welcome bags or favors to be set at everyone's seat. I've also thrown in a USVI bumper sticker and will include some local brochures on St. Thomas and St. John.

And for my runner up Amber, that is a surprise her. Amber is expecting a very special baby this summer, Megan Grace, and there is a little something in the package for you and your mommy. And sorry Amber, it is not two tickets to come back down to St. Thomas. Business is good, but not that good!

Bill Wins!!

And we have a runner up too! Amber wins too!

I should have mentioned how I planned to pick the winner...I waited until this morning and then saw I had 12 comments. So I tore up 12 little pieces of paper and put a number on them. Then I handed the cup to my 10 month old daugher, Maya, who just threw the cup and made a mess. So I decided to pick a number on my own...it was number 12 - Bill wins! So I start to go to my blog to announce the winner while Maya plays with the cup...two seconds later, she is smacking her lips on a little piece of paper. It had a number 2 on it...so Maya decided to chose her own winner afterall! I'll contact each of you via email and announce your prizes soon (now I have to brainstorm to decide on the prize!). =)

Thanks everyone for participating!

Let's do a Give Away!

Yippee!

I read tons of blogs and a lot of them are doing give-aways. Who doesn't like to win something?? Now, I know how many hits this blog gets a day and I have to say, I'm a bit disappointed in my lack of comments. So, in order to win, you have to leave a comment with your first name & email address and also how you are "related" to this blog...are you a past bride, current bride, friend of mine, a local vendor or just a fan of destination weddings? The prize will depend on who you are, so I will announce the winner & prize on Monday. So do it now - leave me a comment!!

Such a small world...

Shortly before leaving for Indiana...actually, one day before leaving for Indiana, we had a very small wedding for a beautiful couple staying at Sapphire Beach Resort. These two were so much fun, always laughing. I had picked them up the day before the wedding to take them to the courthouse to pick up their marriage license and just like I mentioned in my post before I left, the "where are you from" question came up. It just so happens that they live in town right next to my parents! Had I been able to get their certified marriage license back from the courthouse by time I left, I would have been able to hand deliver it!

We took the photo above on the grounds of Sapphire Beach Resort, right next to Pretty Klip Point. There is a high site fee for use of the Point for weddings, so we actually had the ceremony down the beach on Little Pelican (see photo below). The point is a great place for photos though - the background with St. John & Tortola is just breathtaking! I really had a great time at this wedding - it's always nice to be around Hoosiers!

Aaaaaaand....I'm back!

I ended up extending my trip to the mainland til the 9th so I just got back yesterday afternoon. I tried to keep up with emails while I was away but still have a lot of catching up to do now that I'm back.

It's really nice being back on the island though! And with two weddings this week, I'm hitting the ground running! More to come in the next day or two...in the meantime, Happy Mother's Day from Island Bliss Weddings! If you are a past client, I would love to hear if you have become a mother recently. I know one very special bride had twins in the last year! She sent me photos a few weeks ago and they are just precious. I love seeing families develop out of the weddings we've planned! =)

Home Sweet Home

One of the first questions I hear when picking up a bride & groom is always a variation of "How long have you lived here?" - "Did you grow up here?" - "Where are you from, originally?" - and the answer always starts with Indiana. It's where my family is, where I grew up, went to college...and escaped from as soon as I graduated! Actually, I have a deep love of Indiana and strong sense of Indiana Pride, but it's no joke that I was in a hurry to escape from it's long, cold winters.

I'm actually here this week visiting family and attending my friends wedding (so nice to just attend and not plan!). I won't be back on island until May 4th, so I want to apologize in advance for any delays in email. I always try to respond within 24 hours but being away, it is closer to 48 and embarrassingly, in some cases longer. Please bear with me as I try to catch up!

Diggin' on these accessories....

I just love the hair flower this bride had for her hair, isn't it gorgeous? You should have seen it on the beach. It was so delicate, it looked like feathers when it would dance around in the breeze. And I loved her necklace, how it tied in the back...it looked so great with her dress. I always love seeing what my brides are wearing on their wedding day. I don't think there is any other day in a woman's life where she puts so much thought into what she is going to wear. Every little detail is so special.
